Cala D'Or history
Cala D'Or is called translated as much as “the golden bay” and over the years derived from the original name Cala d'Shorta. It is a sympathetic place at the southeast coast Mallorcas, who surely ranks among the high class places of the island.
When original planning of the “old” Cala D'Or by the architect Pep Costa, the philosophy was to plan a village in the Ibiza style. This idea has today still its precipitation in the current building regulation. All buildings in Cala D'Or follow the Ibiza style and therefore dominate white painted houses in the Ibiza style the picture of the place, the high buildings of hotels of other places search one here in vain.
The Marina

Beaches of Cala D'Or 
The entire Resort is coined/shaped not by a long sand beach, but by a number of smaller bath bays. These lie both directly in center of Cala D'Or, and as well in the direct surrounding field. Everyone of it has its own expression and loads for the recovery and relaxation.
All beaches of the Resorts are sand beaches with usually highly transparent water and are usually protected by the rock coast.
At each beach in the time from April to October according to beach couches with screens are rented. Each beach has also its own (smaller or larger) beach bar. In the high season the beach guests are also always supplied by a "traveling" fruit dealer with fresh fruits.
Sport in the Resort
The Resort offers a outstanding district naturally with its beaches for water haven. At each beach one finds the usual lettings for all possible “vessels” (pedal boat). Highly transparent water and protecting rock coasts offer in addition best conditions for the sportily active holiday-makers relative sails and dipping required.
In the autumn/winter and spring Cala D'Or is a popular training district for cyclists, tennis players and Golfer.

Cala D `Or does have a very good infrastructure with galleries and shops of mode, sports article and decoration inviting for shopping.
